GreenSpeed Karting finds its stride at BSRKC, rides great momentum into the Canadian Nationals

Darren White - DD2As the GreenSpeed trailer rolled into Goodwood Kartways Monday, there was something in the air that suggested this week would be the turning point for the team. The strong group of drivers that call GreenSpeed their TEAM, have been turning heads all season as they continue to post top running times in literally every class. In the latest rounds of the BSRKC series at Flamboro Speedway and Shannonville Motorsports Park – GreenSpeed continued to show that it can show up, unpack, and compete literally from the first sessions on track.

“The dominance of our team drivers, and these karts is becoming evident to more and more people. I have been getting a lot of phone calls over the past few weeks from drivers, who have witnessed first hand what our team is doing not only on track but in the pits as well” notes team owner Mike Morrison. “We have said continually that our model for success would be based on differentiating on support, and on developing drivers. I think people are smart enough to understand that when you put a veteran racer in any chassis, they will have the skills and experience to put that kart up front consistently. But when you see rookie drivers like GreenSpeed’s Ethan Livingston and Cameron Morrison in Rotax Junior, securing poles and podium finishes – to me that really demonstrates the strength of the package we are offering.”

As the teams turn its focus to the Canadian Nationals this weekend, the team is looking to ride its recent success into home track territory, and continue its strong inaugural run.

With Tony karts taking two of the three podiums in Rotax Junior in Shannonville as well as 1-2 finishes at Goodwood’s Jr Rotax Race last weekend, we fully expect to the race go green, and finish green at the RMC Canadian Nationals this weekend with a very strong field of Tony Kart Drivers in this class. Teammates Ethan Livingston and Cameron Morrison have been on fire this season, with Livingston having been on the front row after qualifying in two of five BSRKC events, and with the very junior Morrison, already having climbed the podium twice in five starts in BSRKC action this season.

In Rotax DD2, Darren White is set to defend his 2008 Canadian National Title in Rotax DD2, and with the strong performances Darren had had all season, consistently the fastest kart on track – Darren has no intention of leaving anything back in the pit. Watch for Darren to set the pace rather than chase it.

Despite the absence of Shifter at the Nationals in 2009, Ryan Horses still managed to find something to shift as he confirmed earlier this week, his intention of running in Rotax DD2 for GreenSpeed.

Ryan HorsesRotax Senior will be another class where Darren White expects to compete hard. With a seasoned field of drivers taking to the track Darren knows this is the chance to show he can run with the best. GreenSpeed with also be debuting its newest team member in Rotax Senior, at the Canadian Nationals. Keep your eye out for the latest karter who has decided to choose Green in 2009.

Throughout the weekend, GreenSpeed Karting will be pitted with, and working alongside its business partner SH Karting. The two teams have forged a great relationship this season and will be working to share track knowledge and set-up info in an effort to ensure all the Tony Kart Drivers have what they need to be up front all weekend.

“I can’t say enough about the support we have received from SH Karting this season” notes Morrison. “I didn’t really know any of them when I assumed control of GreenSpeed this year, but I can honestly say I could not ask for a better group of people to work with. Clem, Gary and Sacha have been quite simply, incredible to deal with. They share the same passion for their customers as we do and we all believe deeply in the concept of putting drivers at the centre of what we do. It will be great to have them with us here this weekend”.
