Darren White - DD2GreenSpeed Karting supported a full compliment of team and associate drivers at the recent round of the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship held at Mosport International Karting. A full field of nine two-cycle drivers on Saturday was followed up by three drivers taking to four-cycle action on wet and wild Sunday. GreenSpeed team drivers have been building pace throughout the season and are looking good in the point standings in several key classes including four championship leads and seven top five drivers in the standings at the halfway mark.

Leading the way in Rotax DD2 is Florida Winter Tour Champion and 2008 Canadian National Champion Darren White. With two wins to open the season, he as a strong lead in the points over a tough and determined field of competitors. Doing double duty for GreenSpeed, in Rotax Senior White sits in tenth spot just one position behind teammate Jonathan Treadwell, who holds down ninth. Treadwell leads the point chase in Senior Lite with a win in round one and strong finishes in rounds two and three.

Ryan Horses holds the fifth spot in ICC, with a mechanical problem in round two keeping him out of the top three in points. In Senior Heavy Cory Walsh sits in the fourth spot while in round three action Marc Stehl hit the podium in Senior Rotax with a third place finish. Melissa Curran continues to gain pace in Senior Rotax with strong qualifying runs in the last two rounds.

Cameron Morrison“I am really happy with how our Senior program has been progressing,” comments Mike Morrison, the new owner of GreenSpeed Karting. “Darren and Ryan have been running great and have been incredible leaders in the team and in the paddock as well. The Tony Kart chassis was new to all of us this season - drivers and tuners alike. To be leading four championships with four or five other drivers very much in the hunt in their respective classes, I couldn’t ask for anything more for season one – and we’re just getting going,” winks Morrison.

In Junior action 12-year-old rookie Cameron Morrison delivered a solid qualifying run holding P1 until the very last lap, where he was edged by a mere 7/1000s of a second on one of the series longest circuits. Cameron continues on a strong pace in Rotax Junior as he sits fourth in points with strong runs and solid finishes in all three rounds. Morrison will continue to work closely with teammate Ethan Livingston who has shown incredible speed in qualifying, but has been snaked bit in the feature races. In Junior Heavy, Morrison sits well inside the top ten in seventh spot, and the 2008 BSRKC Junior Lite Champion is still looking to make some moves forward in the next round at Flamboro. In Rotax Mini Max, Trevor Rancier leads the points taking the win and top spot on the box in the last round.

“Our Juniors have been showing great pace in testing and qualifying, but have had mixed results in points action. We have not always been able to carry that momentum into the features and get to turn that into the results they really deserve,” smiles Morrison. “Both Aaron (DeHeus) and Mike (Roth) continue to work on race craft and the benefits are already paying off as they inch closer to the podium.”

Trevor RancierThe GreenSpeed Team will return to action July 9 to 11 at Flamboro Speedway who play host for Round Four of the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship. GreenSpeed Karting is also excited about being the title sponsor for that event. The team will then set its sites on the Canadian Nationals slated to take place on August 8 to 11 at Goodwood Kartways, and will be hosting a week long Nationals training camp in July for the team.
