Team News: GreenSpeed Early Season Recap and BSRKC Preview

With only a few days left until the inaugural round of the 2009 Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship gets underway at 3S Go karts in Sutton, Ontario, the GreenSpeed team has been actively planning and preparing to kick-off its first team event, with a full roster of drivers on board.

This past weekend, GreenSpeed came together in Sutton as a team, working and testing together and sharing information openly under the leadership of Aaron De Heus and Mike Roth. While track conditions on Saturday and Sunday were not necessarily ideal, bringing the team together was an important step in the process of solidifying the team concept and approach with all drivers, and set the stage for how we will work together and operate as a team.

“The excitement among our paddock is very evident as many of our drivers have been testing early and often, even prior to last weekend” noted Team Owner Mike Morrison. “The team has been using a travelling club schedule to test under race conditions, and find the sweet spot for set up. We are definitely ready to contest in all classes”

In early season competition, the team has seen some very encouraging results from a number of drivers. Jonathon Treadwell and Ryan Horses both secured wins in Sutton Club action at race two after rain forced the cancellation of race one. Cameron Morrison has hit the podium 3 times in early season club action with two 3rd place finishes in Junior Heavy at TRAK, and a 3rd place Junior Rotax finish in Sutton.

Darren White narrowly missed a podium in the Senior Rotax regional action at the Coupe de Montreal opening round. After Qualifying 5th, Darren was taken out in pre-final action dropping back to 15th before running back to 10th. In the final Darren worked from 10th to 4th and was hauling in the front runners in the late stages of the race. Darren’s second appearance in Quebec was put on hold due to rain and he is anxious to get on track for both Senior Rotax and DD2 action this weekend at BSRKC Race 1. Other team drivers including Melissa Curran, Ethan Livingston, and Marc Stehle have also been active early this season in both club schedules as well as testing days with the team.

“It’s great to see the team coming together and to see the GreenSpeed concept unfolding”, said Morrison. “I can’t tell you how gratifying it has been to see all of the off season efforts and planning culminating into a unified group of racers who are all fully on board with the program. We have said all along that we would find the right product, the right group of drivers, and the right support – and the rest would follow. Now it’s time to lead”

The Team Line up for this weekend is as follows:
