Austin Milwain of Keswick, Ontario displayed a stellar performance at the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship event held at the Kawartha Downs and Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario this past weekend. Competing in the Rotax Junior class, the 2007 Canada Junior Canadian National Champion was nearly unbeatable, finishing atop the results in every session but one en route to two victories and the points lead. These on-track results, paired with his true sportsmanship acts off the track also earned him the 'Autosports Media BSRKC Driver of the Weekend' award.

"It was good to run against a handful of competitive drivers," commented the fifteen year-old Milwain from his home following the event. "It was a really fun weekend all around."
After quickly relearning the track configuration, which was similar to last year’s event, Milwain posted the fastest time in qualifying on Sunday afternoon to earn the pole-position. Never turning a wheel wrong in the pre-final, he drove flag-to-flag to maintain his number one position for the final. After getting a clean start, Milwain was able to stretch and early lead on his competitors. Setting his G-Force Engines powered TonyKart into cruise control; he led from start to finish to earn his first victory of the year.
"I've got to thank G-Force Engines for their powerful engines and awesome support this weekend," continued Milwain. "I also need to thank my mom and dad and the guys at Greenspeed as well."
Returning on Monday morning, Austin and his father went to work seeking victory number two. Also using the day’s events to do a little testing, they missed the pole-position by three-hundredths of a second and was forced to start the pre-final from inside row two in third place. Taking his time in the pre-final, he worked his way to the lead on eight and earned a front row starting spot for the final. After fighting off an early charge in the final, Milwain posted some very quick lap times mid-race to pull a slight lead in the final. With his TonyKart only getting faster throughout the race, he scored his second victory of the weekend by over five-seconds.
"It was great to win both races, but it was also really good to use this weekend for some testing. We learned a lot more about the new chassis we are on this year, and that gives us confidence heading into Mosport this weekend."
Up next for the youngster will be this weekends Eastern Canadian Karting Championship race at Mosport International Karting. The event marks round two of the four event series.
